Samsung Xcover Pro 2 launch with Snapdragon 778G

Samsung Xcover Pro 2 launch with Snapdragon 778G spotted at Geekbench. Samsung offers a variety of rugged tablets and smartphones within the Xcover range, however it doesn’t adhere to an exact schedule for its launch. A new model called “Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro 2″ is being spotted on Geekbench that has a pretty powerful mid-range processor. 

Its status as a Pro will make it an update to the original Xcover Pro from January 2020 rather than the entry-level Xcover 5 from last year. The original Pro included an Exynos 9611, which was not the most powerful processor that was available however, it was nevertheless decently quick.

This Galaxy Xcover Pro 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 778G, a 6- nanometer (TSMC) chipset featuring four Cortex A78-based cores (one of which is running at 2.4 GHz), four A55s and an Adreno 642L.

It’s similar to an older top-of-the line Snapdragon chip (like that of the 860) but is surprisingly efficient and comes with 5G connectivity. Geekbench revealed 6GB of memory on the model that ran the test that is a two more GB increase over the previous Pro. 

Additionally, the latest model had Android 12. The first model didn’t have the greatest software support It was released using Android 11 and One UI 2.0 in 2020. It was upgraded to Android 11 and One UI 3.0 in 2021. This was the most current update, in December, and it’s a security patch.

There’s not Android 12 in sight. It’s unclear when Samsung will launch its Galaxy Xcover Pro 2 official which typically launches with little fanfare since they’re mostly targeted at business (e.g. Walmart across the US purchased 740,000 Xcover Pros for employees to use in its stores).
